Panchkula district court complex gets bomb threat, again

Panchkula: Panic spread across the district court complex in Sector 1, Panchkula, which received its second bomb threat in less than six months on Friday. This prompted an immediate response by the police and other security agencies.Officials said information about the threat was received around 10:35am and a thorough security operation was launched.Additional police force was deployed across the premises and detailed checks were conducted by the bomb detection squad and security teams.Police said the threat is being treated seriously and all standard operating procedures have been put into effect. Investigators are working to ascertain the source and authenticity of the threat. No suspicious object had been found by the time this report was filed.False AlarmsOver the past few weeks, security agencies have been on high alert over a series of hoax bomb threats.Earlier this month, Chandigarh Railway Station received an email threatening to blow up the station using an improvised explosive device (IED). This triggered an intensive search operation by the Chandigarh Police, bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog teams. Nothing suspicious was found during the exercise.Several educational institutions in Mohali, including Yadavindra Public School (YPS), Delhi Public School (DPS) and DAV Public School, also received bomb threats via email, leading to evacuations and extensive searches.In another incident, the mayor’s office in Mohali was threatened via an email claiming that explosives had been planted inside the MC building. After exhaustive searches, security agencies found each of these a hoax.
