Panchkula: With the model code of conduct for the Panchkula municipal corporation elections coming into force from Monday, several routine civic works as well as major flagship projects of Panchkula will get further delayed.Officials sources said about 14 development agendas were to be taken up during a meeting of the Panchkula Metropolitan Authority (PMDA) on Tuesday; however, the meeting was postponed due to the model code of conduct. Work on establishing the Rs 208.92 crore integrated command and control centre (ICCC) and building a four-lane road from the dumping ground to National Highway was to be taken up. But all these seem to have been delayed for at least one month. While among major projects whose agency and rate have been finalised, include the Rs 147 crore “World Class Shooting Range” and Rs 22 crore Atal Park. Their allotment will get delayed for at least one more month. The PMDA had to send it to chief minister for final approval, but it has reportedly been put on hold for now.As per the PMDA, the Sector 32 facility, which will be built on 9.2 acres of land, will have a ground-plus-two-floor building. It will have a 50-m, 25-m and final shooting range on the ground floor and a 10-m shooting facility on the first floor. A restaurant and administrative block are also part of it.While Atal Park, which will be built on nearly 5 acres of land, will be developed on the newly constructed wide road connecting Sukhna Lake with the Mata Mansa Devi Complex in Sector 1.As per the approved blueprint, the project will feature several themed gardens designed around wildlife, fragrance, Ayurveda, culture, art and science. One of the key highlights will be the Atal Gallery, a Rang Manch and Food kiosks .Besides, Panchkula Municipal Corporation’s long-delayed project of construction of its office building is also set to take a hit.The corporation previously sent the same to the director, urban local bodies, for administrative approval. But the approval thing is not expected to move for now and the tendering process will not happen at least till next month.Apart from this, several routine tenders, including road, sewerage, water supply, streetlights and others, are not allowed to be floated till May 13.
