Palghar woman found dead in flat, husband missing

Palghar: A 30-year-old woman was found dead in a decomposed state inside her flat in Palghar after her brother, who had travelled from Surat following two days of failed attempts to contact her, alerted police. The woman’s husband, who is currently untraceable, has come under suspicion, although police are yet to establish the cause of her death.The deceased, Pooja Mishra, lived with her husband Chandan Mishra in flat no 201 on the second floor of the Funnel building near Ghodela Garden in the Satpati Road area. The couple had married around six years ago and Pooja worked for a private company.According to her brother, Pradeep Kumar Mishra, he had been repeatedly calling Pooja since around 8pm on Aug 22. She initially did not answer and her phone was later found switched off. After failing to contact her for two days, Pradeep travelled from Surat to Palghar on Aug 24.When he reached the flat, he found the door locked from outside and noticed a strong foul smell coming from inside. He immediately called the police helpline 112. A police team reached the spot, broke open the lock and entered the flat, where they found Pooja’s decomposed body in the bedroom. The body was sent for a postmortem examination and an accidental death report was registered. Police said the exact cause of death would be established after receiving the postmortem report.
