Varanasi: The head constable of the 34th Battalion PAC was suspended after a video surfaced on social media showing his violent altercation with a woman near the Satyanarayan temple near Gate No. 4 of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. According to reports, during a dispute over removing flower vendors, the constable threw the woman’s goods on the street. In retaliation, the woman beat the head constable with a stick. The head constable grabbed the stick, pinned the woman to the ground, and pulled her hair while beating her back. Following an inquiry, head constable Radheshyam Yadav of the 34th Battalion PAC was suspended.Regarding the incident, PAC 34th Battalion deputy commandant, Rajkumar, said that a departmental enquiry against Yadav was in progress. He said that the investigation found that the woman in the viral video is a florist and she frequently quarrels with devotees over petty issues. On the day of the incident on May 19, she was quarrelling with a pilgrim when the PAC head constable deployed there tried to pacify her. However, she turned violent and attacked the head constable. While reacting to it, the head constable lost his cool.
