Sri Anandpur Sahib: Punjab mines and geology department seized a Poklain machine, along with a tipper, and arrested one person during a late-night raid against illegal mining in Bhallan village of Nangal tehsil in Sri Anandpur Sahib on the intervening night of Oct 23 and 24.Mines and geology minister Barinder Kumar Goyal said the action forms part of chief minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab govt’s intensified crackdown on illegal mining across the state.A case was registered against the persons concerned under Sections 4(1) and 21(1) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.Goyal said the department was maintaining strict vigilance and would act firmly against violations of mining regulations. He said govt was committed to protecting Punjab’s natural resources and ensuring mining activities complied with the law.
