Lucknow: A 21-year-old man was killed and three others were injured after two speedboats collided at the Ramgarh Tal boating facility in Gorakhpur on Sunday night.The accident occurred at around 9.30 pm when a speedboat carrying tourists from the boarding platform into the lake collided head-on with another boat returning to the platform with passengers.The deceased was identified as Lakhmuddin (21), while one of the injured was identified as Qayamuddin Ansari (25). A child, identified as Hamza, suffered a head injury, while another youth sustained injuries to his hand.Police said the boat carrying eight passengers overturned after the collision, throwing several occupants into the water. Security personnel and the in-charge of the boating outpost launched a rescue operation and pulled the passengers out of the lake.

The injured were rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared Lakhmuddin dead during treatment.Senior officials, including the vice-chairman of the Gorakhpur Development Authority, visited the district hospital and reviewed the condition of the injured.Chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured. He also instructed the administration to establish contact with the deceased’s family and extend all possible assistance, while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.Police have inspected the accident site and launched an investigation. Investigators are also examining whether any lapses in safety protocols or operational procedures contributed to the accident.
