Hyderabad: Olectra Greentech Limited on Thursday said it has become the first company in India to reach a deployment of 4,000 electric buses, marking a major milestone in the country’s shift to sustainable public transport.The Hyderabad-based electric mobility company marked the achievement in Shimla with the symbolic handover of its 4,000th bus to Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri.The handover took place during the flag-off ceremony for 297 Olectra electric buses inducted into Himachal Road Transport Corporation fleet. Senior officials from Himachal Pradesh govt, HRTC and Olectra attended the event.Olectra said its buses now operate across several states and cities, carrying millions of passengers while reducing operating costs and emissions. The company’s 4,000-bus fleet has covered more than 730 million green kilometres and helped prevent over 6.5 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.Olectra Greentech Ltd managing director Mahesh Babu called the deployment “one of the proudest moments” in Olectra’s journey and said the milestone reflected growing confidence in electric mobility among public transport undertakings.The company said it would continue expanding sustainable mobility solutions through innovation, scale and partnerships with state transport agencies. It also cited strong orders and execution capabilities as future growth drivers.
