Noida: An eight-lane elevated expressway proposed along Yamuna Pushta road, to create a bypass to Noida Expressway for commuters travelling to Noida International Airport, will now start from Sector 94 and extend to Sector 23C under Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), where it will meet the Faridabad-Jewar Greenfield Expressway, bringing it closer to the airport. The expressway bypass was earlier proposed as a 31km-long elevated road that would terminate at Greater Noida’s Chi IV, near Gautam Buddha University, where it meets Yamuna Expressway. As per the revised alignment, cleared at a recent meeting of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the three development authorities, the elevated road will now be 50km long, extending beyond Chi IV to Gharbhara, Mursadpur, and YEIDA’s sectors 27, 26, 24, 24A and 23C. Sector 23C sits barely 3-5km from the airport and is proposed to house a 700-acre multi-modal transport hub.The road will begin near Okhla Barrage in Sector 94 and run parallel to the Yamuna embankment before joining Yamuna Expressway. The alignment will pass through sectors 95, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 132, 133, 134 and 135, covering areas that include corporate offices, premium residential sectors and several villages.NHAI, which is developing the Rs 4,000-crore project to decongest Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway, has been tasked with preparing a detailed project report (DPR).Noida Authority general manager AK Arora told TOI that the alignment of the proposed elevated expressway was revised in anticipation of a significant rise in traffic following the commencement of flight operations at Noida airport.

Yamuna Pushta elevated expressway project was first proposed in Sept 2024, when Noida Authority had sought national highway status for the corridor to bypass Noida Expressway. The alignment and feasibility plans have since evolved through multiple revisions. In July, the NHAI consultant said the proposed expressway may start from DND Flyway that was expected to add nearly 5 km to the original 31-kilometre corridor. Authorities had earlier discussed extending the corridor to the flyway, but it was ruled out due to the presence of Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Dalit Prerna Sthal along the proposed stretch.Noida Authority is also constructing the 5.5km-long Chilla Elevated Road project, which is around 55% complete and is expected to be operational by July 2027. The six-lane corridor will connect the Chilla Regulator near Mayur Vihar with Mahamaya Flyover. Since Chilla Elevated Road will terminate near Mahamaya Flyover, Authority is planning another 1.4km elevated link road to connect it with Yamuna Pushta Road and the proposed elevated corridor along the embankment.Together, the three projects are expected to create an alternative high-speed route to Noida Expressway and facilitate seamless commuting between Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida. The 31km Faridabad-Jewar expressway, being developed by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), will connect Sector 65 in Faridabad to Dayanatpur village near Noida airport, cutting travel time from the Haryana city down to 15-30 minutes. The six-lane expressway is expected to be ready by May next year.
