Tarapith: Online booking for ‘VIP’ darshan commenced on Sunday at the Tarapith temple in Birbhum. Devotees can now buy coupons through a mobile app. However, alongside this new facility, on-the-spot physical coupons will remain available until the online system functions seamlessly.With ‘Kaushiki Amavasya’ falling this Thursday, special arrangements have been made for lakhs of pilgrims expected to visit Tarapith for the occasion. Previously, devotees had to collect physical coupons priced at Rs 500 for the VIP darshan on site. Rampurhat sub-divisional officer Rathore Ashwin Babusingh and Rampurhat MLA Dhruba Saha formally inaugurated the new system by booking online coupons themselves.Rampurhat MLA Dhruba Saha said, “ The digital coupon arrangement aims to curb the irregularities that previously plagued the VIP darshan process.”Pulak Chatterjee, secretary of the Tarapith Sevait Sangha, said, “We welcome this pilot project and hope it will soon be fully operational. It will take a few months for a complete transition.”
