Gurgaon: GMDA on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to the developer of Ramprastha City in Sector 37D for allegedly constructing an unauthorised access that is obstructing the natural flow of Badshapur stormwater drain, raising concerns ahead of the monsoon.In case of non-compliance or an unsatisfactory reply, the Authority said it will proceed with demolition of the structure without further notice, recover penalty costs and initiate legal action.The structure that was found during an inspection carried out on Monday is a serious violation of drainage norms and is likely to result in waterlogging, public inconvenience and potential damage to public infrastructure during the monsoon, the notice said.The Authority flagged the act as a violation of development control norms and an unauthorised intervention in public drainage infrastructure. It also noted that the structure is creating an obstruction in stormwater flow, which is not permissible under existing regulations.GMDA has directed the developer to respond within seven days, explaining why action should not be initiated. The notice warns that the structure is liable to be removed or demolished at the developer’s risk and cost, and an FIR may also be registered for violation of statutory provisions.It has also asked the developer to submit detailed drawings and justification for the culvert, if any, and to apply for permission if access is required. It clarified that, even if justified, the culvert will only be constructed through GMDA on a deposit-work basis to ensure proper hydraulic design and prevent any obstruction to stormwater flow.Meanwhile, Satbir Singh, general manager of the township’s facility management, said he was not aware of the notice.Residents, however, questioned the timing of the action. “The access has existed for nearly eight years, even before the township became operational. If it was unauthorised, why has the Authority raised objections only now? More than 5,000 families living across Atrium, Edge and View use this for access daily.
