LUCKNOW: Following recent unrest by factory workers in Noida, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said no external elements should be allowed to interfere in factory operations, warning that such interference can disrupt industrial harmony and progress. His remarks in Lucknow come two days after large-scale unrest in Noida, where thousands of factory workers, including women, went on strike demanding a wage hike and other benefits. The protest turned violent in parts, with incidents of arson, stone-pelting and vandalism. Adityanath had earlier flagged a possible conspiracy angle behind the violence, which is under police investigation. Speaking at an event marking the rollout of the one-millionth bus from the Tata Motors plant in Lucknow, the chief minister described the milestone as a moment of pride in the company’s 34-year journey in the city. “We must ensure that no outside elements are allowed to interfere in the internal matters of our factories or groups under any circumstances. ‘Bigaadne wale bahut aaenge, banaane wale kam milenge’ (Those who disrupt are many, but those who build are rare),” he said, addressing company officials and employees. “One should remain thankful to institutions and organisations that provide employment opportunities, education for children and growth for the youth,” he added. Recalling the Tata Group’s contribution, Adityanath said it has helped thousands of families earn a livelihood and supported the education and progress of their children. “Because of such institutions, young people can build their careers, gain respect in society and maintain their identity,” he said. “The sense of gratitude is important, as it strengthens both individuals and society, and helps sustain long-term development and trust,” he added. The chief minister congratulated Tata employees, noting that buses manufactured at the plant would continue to strengthen public transport services. The event was attended by Tata Group chairman N Chandrasekaran, Tata Motors managing director Girish Wagh, Uttar Pradesh industrial development minister Nand Gopal Gupta and transport minister Dayashankar Singh, among others. Adityanath said the rollout of the one-millionth commercial vehicle was not just an industrial milestone but a reflection of India’s emergence and Uttar Pradesh’s readiness as a global manufacturing hub. “This is not merely a milestone, but a moment that symbolises a new trajectory for a new India and a new Uttar Pradesh,” he said. Highlighting the state’s demographic advantage, he said over 56% of Uttar Pradesh’s workforce comprises youth, with efforts underway to align them with skills, innovation and technology in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. He said improved infrastructure and connectivity were accelerating industrial growth, citing expansion of expressways and airports. Uttar Pradesh now accounts for a significant share of India’s expressway network, with the commissioning of the Ganga Expressway, he added. Adityanath said the Tata Group has earned public trust through its contributions across sectors such as steel, automobiles, software and hospitality. Recalling the contributions of late Ratan Tata, he said the establishment of the Lucknow plant had generated employment for thousands. He also highlighted the plant’s shift towards cleaner technologies, including CNG and electric vehicles, and appreciated efforts in renewable energy use and water conservation. He said strengthening public transport with electric vehicles could help bridge last-mile connectivity gaps and contribute to achieving net-zero emission targets. Emphasising teamwork and integrity, Adityanath said trust built by organisations like the Tata Group plays a key role in economic growth and social progress.
