Noida: With changing weather conditions triggering a rise in fever cases, hospitals in Noida are reporting an increase in patients with fever, body ache and respiratory symptoms. The district has recorded 180 dengue cases, 36 malaria cases and 458 H1N1 cases so far, prompting doctors to advise people against ignoring persistent fever and other warning signs.Doctors said the post-monsoon period, when mosquito breeding continues, has contributed to the sustained burden of dengue, even as H1N1 cases have begun to decline. Hospitals have also reported an increase in patients seeking consultations for fever and related symptoms.Dr Ajay Agarwal, chairperson of internal medicine at Fortis Hospital, Noida, said the hospital had witnessed a notable shift in seasonal infections over the past few weeks.“While probable dengue cases have increased, H1N1 infections are showing a decline. In the hospital, we have been seeing around 50 to 60 probable dengue cases every week across outpatient and inpatient departments. In contrast, H1N1 cases have begun to decline, with around 10 to 15 cases being reported weekly,” he said.Doctors said fever accompanied by severe body aches, chills, persistent nausea or unusual fatigue should not be ignored. “While routine viral fever generally subsides within three to five days, H1N1 is often accompanied by respiratory symptoms such as a dry cough, sore throat and nasal congestion. Dengue, meanwhile, can cause intense muscle and joint pain, pain behind the eyes and, in some cases, skin rashes,” said a senior doctor at the Noida district hospital.Agarwal added that a fever lasting beyond three days warranted medical evaluation. Patients with suspected dengue might require blood tests to monitor platelet counts and other parameters, particularly during the critical phase of the illness.
