New Delhi: Delhi Police Thursday clarified that no permission had been granted to protest at Jantar Mantar on Aug 21.Police said videos circulating regarding permission for a protest on reservation reforms were “false and misleading”. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita — erstwhile Section 144 CrPC — are in force in New Delhi District, and accordingly, protest marches, processions, demonstrations and assemblies of five or more people are prohibited, they added.Police have advised people not to amplify, forward or share any unverified content, while pointing out that legal action may be initiated against those found creating or disseminating fake news. tnn
