No major rain forecast for Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The city witnessed cloudy conditions on Sunday, but the likelihood of significant rainfall remains low, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).The maximum temperature settled at 31.9°C, 0.2 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26.3°C, which was 1 degree above normal. Relative humidity stood at 85% at 8.30am and 72% at 5.30pm.According to the IMD, an upper-air cyclonic circulation persists over Gujarat, while a shear zone extends across central and north peninsular India. A well-marked low-pressure area over Odisha is expected to move northwestwards in the coming days. However, the IMD has not issued any weather warnings for Gujarat from Monday onwards.Across the state, 97 talukas recorded 1mm or more rainfall till 6pm on Sunday, with most of the rainfall concentrated in South Gujarat and coastal Saurashtra. Dolvan in Tapi district received the highest rainfall at 19mm, followed by 17mm each in Mahuva of Surat district and Khergam in Navsari district. Pardi in Valsad recorded 16mm of rain.Gujarat has so far received 74% of its seasonal rainfall this monsoon.
