No hurdle high enough to stop these achievers | Kolkata News

Kolkata: Poverty to severe health issues, no challenge could deter these students who overcame all hurdles to score well in ICSE and ISC exams, turning their results into tales of grit and determination.Uday Vir Yaduka of DPS Newtown School, who scored 86.2% in ISC, with 93 in physics and 97 in computer science, has spasticity in his right limbs —a shorter right leg and a slight deformity in his wrist. Yaduka prepared for the exams with remarkable discipline, even giving up electronic devices after his pre-board exams to concentrate fully on studies. Though he believes he could have done better, his result reflects resilience and a sense of purpose as he works towards his dream of becoming a computer engineer. His parents, both employed in private firms, stood by him. He said, “Letting go of electronic devices after pre-boards wasn’t easy but it gave me clarity. My parents’ constant support, despite their busy lives, became my biggest strength. I just want to say being focused can help you achieve even the greatest things that once felt too hard to dream about.”Deb Paul, son of a scrap-collector and a homemaker, has scored 94.2% in ICSE. His teachers described him as quiet, steady and deeply sincere, shaped by self-belief and perseverance. They attributed his success to his dedication. Paul said, “Board exams are tough but what’s tougher is doing it alone. I was fortunate that my parents never pressured me. They only asked if I had given my best. That trust motivated me to work harder.Sk Inayat, son of a driver and a homemaker, scored 93.4% in ICSE. His school is visibly proud of his achievement and lauded his ability to strike a balance between studies and sports. Inayat has scored a perfect 100 in physical education, highlighting his all-round commitment. “Don’t miss out on life, but don’t forget to study as you’ll never regret the results of hard work,” Inayat said.
