Kolkata: Screening of films at Inox in Metropolitan Mall at Hiland Park off EM Bypass stopped from Saturday as the fire licence did not get renewed due to lack of pressurisation in the stairs and exhaust system in the basement. Mall authorities said they have started work to comply with the fire norms.The multiplex that has three screens had operated till Friday. On Saturday, staff manning the box office near the mall entrance informed movie-goers that screening had been suspended for “indefinite period” as work was “underway” to obtain necessary clearance from the fire department. “Those who booked tickets in advance will be refunded,” said an employee of the theatre on the third floor of the mall. Movie-goers were directed to other malls.Abhijit Banerjee, manager of the mall, said, “We received the notice at night and the work on the basement started today. We had an internal meeting and the pressurisation of the emergency staircase will begin as soon as possible.”
