PUNE: A newly built road in Talegaon Dabhade near Pune was damaged after a pipeline pressure test triggered a massive water burst amid ongoing monsoon rain in Maharashtra.Videos from the scene showed a massive jet of water erupting from the newly built road. The force of the water damaged a stretch of the road and flooded the surrounding area.The incident comes as Maharashtra continues to receive widespread monsoon rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad, forecasting very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places.On Saturday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that all schools and colleges in Mumbai would remain closed for the afternoon session following the IMD’s warning.Heavy rain has also caused waterlogging in several parts of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, disrupting traffic and affecting daily life. Authorities have urged people to avoid non-essential travel as heavy rainfall is expected to continue.
