Mohali: In a push to strengthen industrial infrastructure, a newly constructed ₹2.3-crore underground storage reservoir (UGSR) near Plot No. F-48 in Phase 8B is set to supply canal water to the industrial belts of Phase 8A and Phase 8B.Inaugurated by Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh in 2024, the completed project boasts a storage capacity of 5.4 lakh gallons. It will receive 1.121 million gallons per day (MGD) of canal water from the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at Sinhpur village for onward distribution. The facility replaces the region’s long-standing reliance on tubewell supply, offering an uninterrupted, reliable alternative designed to recharge and conserve depleting groundwater reserves.Civic authorities emphasised that promoting canal water usage aligns with sustainable water resource management. The corporation added that ongoing infrastructure initiatives across Mohali continue to prioritise drinking water, sewerage, roads, and sanitation upgrades.
