Shimla: A day after a 33-year-old woman died along with her unborn child at the Regional Hospital in Una, her family members continued their protest on Saturday, alleging lapses in treatment.After the body arrived following a postmortem at Tanda Medical College, family members blocked the Una-Hamirpur state highway at Lal Batti Chowk, disrupting traffic for several hours.The deceased, Reena Devi, a resident of Arniala, was admitted to the hospital on Oct 6 but fell ill suddenly around 8:30 am before passing away on Oct 9. The family, thereafter, demanded an impartial inquiry and the immediate arrest of the doctor.Hospital authorities gave a written assurance that they would recommend terminating the concerned gynaecologist’s services and barring her from practising at the hospital. However, the family refused to relent, demanding her immediate arrest and govt-level action.Una police have registered a case against the doctor for causing death by negligent act under Section 106 of the BNS.
