Shillong: The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) recorded its highest-ever profit after tax of Rs 769.08 crore in 2025-26, the public sector power utility said on Friday.NEEPCO has an installed capacity of 2,051 MW in the northeast, comprising 1,519 MW of hydropower, 527 MW of gas-based power and 5 MW of solar power. Citing National Power Portal data, it said this is about 32.6% of the region’s total installed capacity of 6,298 MW.Its major stations include the 600 MW Kameng Hydroelectric Power Station in Arunachal Pradesh, commissioned in 2020-21. In renewables, it is pursuing a 300 MW ground-mounted solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan.“These initiatives are expected to augment power generation capacity and support India’s clean energy transition,” a NEEPCO statement said.The company said its community initiatives cover education, healthcare, sanitation, skill development, community infrastructure and support for economically disadvantaged groups.As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, it recently adopted MUDA Shopping Complex at Khyndailad, Police Bazar, Shillong, as a cleanliness target unit. The initiative includes removing paan and lime stains, cleaning walls and surfaces, and tackling littering.
