Navi Mumbai: Turbhe-Vashi residents faced a 16-hour power failure that began at 11 pm on Thursday night. Residents across multiple localities reported prolonged outages through the night and well into the next day. Many families said the heat made it difficult for children and elderly members to rest, while others faced disruptions to water supply, mobile charging and small home businesses. Despite repeated complaints and follow-ups by affected consumers, the power provider did not restore electricity for several hours, leaving people frustrated and anxious. The incident triggered anger over delayed response and lack of timely updates from officials. MSEDCL said it was an underground cable fault. The fault line was not detected for hours, which pushed the no-supply hours further, officials said. “The MSEDCL staffers restored the supply after 3 pm on Friday, by which time many officegoers like me missed their day’s schedule”, said Ashish Das, an affected resident.Manohar Shinde, another resident, said, “This is not the first time that power cut was witnessed. Our Sector 22 area has been badly hit by the frequent power failure irrespective of seasons. Cable replacement is required to withstand the load due to increase in number of consumers over the years, leading to erratic power supply.”
