New Delhi: Merely not having the name in the 2002 SIR electoral roll does not mean that a voter’s name will be deleted from the draft roll, the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi clarified Wednesday. Non-submission of the enumeration form by Aug 17 or non-qualification as an elector is the only condition for exclusion from the draft roll, it said in response to former AAP MLA Somnath Bharti’s claim that he was unable to find his name in the 2002 voter list though he graduated from IIT in 1997 and studied in Delhi.Bharti said there were apprehensions that names of 20-30 lakh registered voters in Delhi would be deleted after the ongoing SIR.CEO’s office said, “In case an elector is unable to find his/her name in last SIR, he/she can provide his/her relatives’ details (mother, father, grandfather and grandmother {paternal & maternal}).” If the relatives’ details are also not available, only the enumeration form can be submitted. “His/her name will appear in the draft roll,” it added. .It added that on receipt of a notice — as he/she could not be mapped with himself/herself or with any relative — he/she must produce any document from the list mentioned at the back of the enumeration form so that his name stays in the final roll.
