Aizawl: The Federal Council of the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the apex Mizo student body, on Monday urged the Mizoram govt to safeguard the state’s boundaries with Assam, Tripura and Manipur and take action against benami businesses allegedly run by non-tribal traders through local Mizo traders.At its meeting in Aizawl, chaired by its vice-president Sanghmingthanga, the council also called for stricter checks at all inter-state entry points and a study on the possible impact of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project, which links Mizoram with Myanmar.The MZP urged strict implementation of the Mizo Marriage and Inheritance of Property (Amendment) Act, 2026, including provisions related to Scheduled Tribe reservation for children of Mizo women married to non-tribals.MZP president C Lalremruata said the organisation would pursue reports of an abnormal increase in Chakma voters during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, even after the final rolls are published.
