Mumbai biker booked after 21-year-old pedestrian dies

Mumbai: A 21-year-old pedestrian who was critically injured after being hit by a speeding scooter in Bhandup West last week succumbed during treatment, following which police registered a case against the rider.According to the complaint filed by Nilesh Mangesh Bhise, a resident of Ishwarnagar Slum in Bhandup West, the deceased was identified as Sanjay Kumar Yadav, who was known to the complainant for the past two years and frequently visited his house.Bhise stated that on June 5 at around 7.30 am, he was working on a garbage truck near Ishwar Nagar Bus Station on LBS Road when he saw Yadav coming out of a BMC public toilet and attempting to cross the road. At that time, a blue Honda Activa scooter bearing registration number MH-01-FG-5918 allegedly came at high speed and knocked him down.The rider allegedly identified himself as Parashuram Dhotre. Yadav suffered severe head injuries and fractures to his right leg. Bhise, along with the rider, shifted the injured man to Agarwal Hospital in Mulund by rickshaw. However, the rider allegedly fled from outside the hospital.Yadav was later shifted to Sion Hospital, where he underwent treatment for head and leg injuries. Bhise stated that Yadav died during treatment on June 11.Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Parashuram Dhotre for rash and negligent driving causing death, and further investigation is underway.
