MSU technology faculty achieves 65% campus placements, top package is 13.4L

Vadodara: Despite a challenging job market and slower hiring trends across industries, the Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE) of Maharaja Sayajirao University saw encouraging campus placements for the 2025-26 academic year, with 362 students securing jobs through campus recruitment drives so far.According to FTE dean Professor Dhanesh Patel, 558 final-year BE students registered for campus placements this year. Of these, 362 students — nearly 65% — have already been placed at 122 companies till April 30, 2026.The placement process is ongoing, and officials expect the overall placement percentage to reach 80%, which would surpass last year’s figures.Officials said the achievement is significant considering the subdued recruitment environment across sectors this year. Despite the slowdown, the faculty managed to attract a large number of recruiters and expects placement numbers to rise by 10 percentage points from last year.The highest annual package of Rs 13.4 lakh was offered to a student from the computer science and engineering department, Khushi Patel, by Mastercard in a pre-placement offer. The average package across branches stood at Rs 4.5 lakh per annum.Mechanical engineering students received the highest number of placement offers at 106, followed by electrical engineering with 65 offers and computer science and engineering with 63 offers.Among departments, textile chemistry recorded the highest placement percentage at 95%, followed by textile engineering at 93.55% and mechanical engineering at 92.17%. Computer science and engineering also registered a placement rate of over 80%.Civil engineering recorded the lowest placement rate at 17.89%, while architecture students achieved an 80% placement rate.Khushi Patel said she had appeared for the interview in 2024 and later completed an internship with the company last summer. Based on her performance during the internship, she was offered the role of software developer.Sujal Patel from the mechanical engineering department secured a package of Rs 12.2 lakh per annum from Analog Devices, including bonus and house rent allowance. He said the recruitment process began in the seventh semester and involved an online aptitude test, group discussion and personal interviews at the company premises before he received the final offer.
