The boy, Ravi, was a Class VI student at a govt school

Gurgaon: An 11-year-old boy died by suicide at his home in Faridabad’s Chhainsa village on Sunday morning, police said. The incident is suspected to have occurred after he was scolded for stealing money. The boy, Ravi, was the youngest of four siblings and a Class VI student at a nearby govt school. Police said he had returned home after playing outside when his mother noticed that Rs 50–100 was missing from her wallet. Suspecting that he had taken the money, she scolded him and said she would inform his father, Sudesh, a daily wage labourer who had stepped out for a morning walk.Moments later, as the household slipped back into routine, Ravi quietly went to the terrace. His absence was noticed around 8am, following which his mother searched for him and found him there. He was brought down and rushed to a nearby hospital with the help of family members and neighbours, where doctors declared him dead. The hospital informed the police around 8.30am.A police team reached the hospital, collected the medico-legal report and later inspected the house. The body was sent for autopsy and subsequently handed over to the family. Inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 194 of BNSS.Officers said the child may have acted out of fear or distress after being scolded. “It appears he got upset thinking about further scolding from his father,” an officer said. The mother told police that she had only intended to correct him. “I just scolded him for taking money. I never imagined he would take such a step,” she said.
