Gurgaon: A 48-year-old woman and her mother died after being hit by a train while crossing the railway tracks at Garhi Harsaru railway station on Thursday morning.They were identified as Mamta Devi, a resident of Basharia village in Farukhnagar, and her mother, Madhubala (82), a resident of Charkhi Dadri.According to Govt Railway Police (GRP), the incident took place around 5am on Thursday when the family reached the station to board a train for Jaipur. Madhubala had come to visit her daughter along with her son, Basant, and daughter Babli.Police said Mamta and her husband, Vinod, had accompanied them to the station. While crossing the tracks to buy tickets, Vinod, Basant and Babli moved ahead, while Mamta and Madhubala were behind them.During this time, the Tanakpur Express arrived on the Delhi-Rewari track, prompting the two women to stop midway. Simultaneously, the Bikaner Express approached on the Rewari-Delhi track and hit them before they could move away. Madhubala fell on the tracks and Mamta was also struck while trying to help her.GRP personnel reached the spot after receiving information. The bodies were handed over to the family after autopsy.
