Times News NetworkMohali: The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police, in a well-coordinated operation with central agencies and Tripura Police, apprehended Aditya alias Makhan, one of the shooters involved in the murder of Kabaddi promoter Kanwar Digvijay Singh alias Rana Balachauria. He was arrested from Agartala in Tripura, said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Monday.Aditya alias Makhan, a resident of Amritsar, has at least 14 cases pertaining to murder, attempt to murder, extortion, armed robbery, NDPS, Arms Act, etc registered against him. A few months ago, police arrested two shooters — Karan Pathak alias Karan Defaulter and Tarandeep Singh — along with their associate, Akashdeep from Howrah in West Bengal.Assailants shot dead Rana Balachauria during a Kabaddi tournament in Sohana village on Dec 15, 2025. Six persons, including three shooters, have been arrested in the case. Two of the accused, Aishdeep Singh and Davinder, were arrested earlier for providing logistical support to the shooters.DGP Gaurav Yadav said Aditya alias Makhan and his aides executed the killing on the directions of foreign-based handlers.“While his accomplices were apprehended by the AGTF, Aditya had been evading arrest until now,” said the DGP.
