Times News NetworkChandigarh: Conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from Chandigarh over the next two days. According to the weather department, the city is likely to witness light rain during this transition period.The latest weather bulletin indicates a gradual shift towards drier conditions across the region. While Punjab and Haryana remained dry during the past 24 hours, Chandigarh could continue to see isolated rain over the next couple of days before the monsoon retreats further.The IMD has forecast mainly cloudy skies for Sept 23 and 24, with maximum temperature expected to remain around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 24 degrees Celsius on both days. Despite the broader trend towards dry weather, isolated rainfall cannot be ruled out during this period.Chandigarh is expected to remain largely dry from Sept 22 to 24. Isolated rain is likely on Sept 25 and 26, followed by dry conditions on Sept 27 and another spell of isolated rain on Sept 28.On Tuesday, Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 35.8 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 23 degrees Celsius, about one degree below normal. No rainfall was recorded in the city during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30am on Tuesday.Humidity levels remained high, with the weather office recording a maximum relative humidity of 90% and a minimum of 43%. The combination of elevated temperatures and humidity is expected to keep conditions warm and muggy during the day, although nights are likely to remain relatively comfortable.The IMD has forecast maximum temperatures of around 35 to 36 degrees Celsius through the week, while minimum temperatures are expected to stay between 23 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius. The projected rain activity is likely to be one of the final spells before the monsoon withdraws further from the region.
