Hyderabad: Forest personnel rescued a monitor lizard that entered the house of Ramesh, a panchayat secretary in Padara mandal, Achampet and released it safely into a nearby forest.Forest beat officer Hanmanthu Naik was informed about the reptile, who alerted rescue staff member Suman and took him to the house. The team caught the monitor lizard without causing it any harm and later released it safely in a nearby forest area.Forest divisional officer Chandra Shekhar, ACF, appealed to people in urban and rural areas not to attack, injure or kill snakes, monitor lizards or other wild animals if they stray into houses, villages or towns. He asked residents to immediately inform forest department personnel in such cases.Chandra Shekhar said protecting wild animals would help maintain ecological balance and urged people to play their part in wildlife conservation.
