Mocked over tantric practices, man hacks youth to death with sickle in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: A 22-year-old was found dead with his eyes gouged out and multiple injuries to his face, neck, stomach and private parts at Poothri village in Niwari. A 33-year-old man from the village has been arrested for the murder. A sickle that he used to hack the youth has been recovered.The deceased, Tarun, worked in a local mattress factory and was found dead on Monday morning. Niranchal, the accused, is a farm labourer in the same village. According to Niranchal, Tarun and his friends would often mock him because he practised tantrism, chanted shlokas and consumed bhang. Police said he nursed a grudge against them for this constant teasing.On Sunday, Tarun left his house to go on a walk around 5pm and never returned. Police were informed of his disappearance around 11.30pm. The next morning, his body was found in a local sugarcane field and his family confirmed his identity. His phone was not found with the body.DCP (Rural) Surendranath Tiwari said police tracked the phone and were led to Niranchal’s house.During interrogation, Niranchal told police he had conspired to kill Tarun and his friends earlier. On Sunday evening, Tarun crossed paths with him and mocked him again, which triggered him to carry out the attack. He said for two days, he had been roaming with a sickle with the intention of killing “someone from the village”.He also said he recited shlokas near Tarun’s body after murdering him. After that, he took the deceased’s smartphone to his house. Police solved the case within one day of the registration of the complaint.
