Margao: Cumbharjua BJP MLA Rajesh Faldessai’s son Rahul appeared at Curchorem police station on Tuesday and apologised to a family he is accused of intimidating in a road rage incident, even before an FIR could be registered. The complainant subsequently withdrew his complaint.Curchorem PI Melson Colaco confirmed that as the complaint stands withdrawn, the police inquiry initiated into it also stands closed.In his complaint dated Sept 28, Shantaram V Kudchadkar (70) alleged that the incident took place on Sept 26 between 8.15pm and 9pm, while he was travelling towards Margao with his daughter-in-law and her minor children.He alleged that an SUV bearing registration number GA 07 P 4499 was parked diagonally near Pontemol Junction, blocking their SUV and causing traffic to build up. When his daughter-in-law honked repeatedly, Faldessai allegedly stepped out and abused her. The SUV reportedly moved only after several people gathered.Kudchadkar further alleged that the confrontation continued after the family proceeded towards Margao. He claimed Faldessai, accompanied by two or three others, was seen near their vehicle, with one of them appearing to carry a rod or stick. Fearing a fresh confrontation, the family moved to the side of the road, but the other SUV allegedly followed them towards Ambedkar Circle, where their vehicle was briefly forced to stop. The SUV then crossed the signal and headed towards Quepem, he said.The complainant said he later obtained the ownership details of the vehicle through his son and identified the alleged driver. He had sought registration of an FIR against Faldessai and three unidentified persons under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions relating to wrongful restraint, intimidation, assault and intentional insult.Following the apology, Kudchadkar said he had accepted it.
