Mizoram receives Rs 9.48 crore central reimbursement for ginger procurement

Aizawl: The Mizoram Agricultural Marketing Board (MAMB) on Tuesday handed over Rs 9.48 crore to the state govt after receiving the amount from the Centre under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) 2024-25 for ginger procurement.The cheque was handed over in the presence of agriculture and farmers’ welfare minister PC Vanlalruata. Finance department secretary Ramchuana received it on behalf of the state govt, and the amount will be credited to the state’s account.Under the scheme, the Union ministry of agriculture and farmers’ welfare reimburses 75% of the net loss incurred by the state government in procuring ginger from farmers. The assistance supports market intervention when growers face adverse market conditions.MAMB transferred the entire reimbursement of Rs 9.48 crore to the state government.MAMB co-chairman and adviser to the chief minister KC Lalmalsawmzauva, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department Secretary Ramdinliani, Horticulture Department Secretary Maria CT Zuali and other board members attended the programme.
