Aizawl: Mizoram’s peaceful environment, high literacy rate, social harmony and a stable govt make it favourable for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, chief minister Lalduhoma said while inaugurating the state’s first CSR conclave in Aizawl on Thursday evening.The event, jointly organised by the Mizoram CSR Cell and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), was held at the Aijal Club.Lalduhoma expressed gratitude to company representatives attending the conclave and said CSR funds in India are estimated at around Rs 34,000 crore annually, serving as a key source for development initiatives. He said the northeast, including Mizoram, receives a smaller share of CSR funding compared to more industrialised states.“We would like companies with CSR funds to take a closer look at Mizoram and explore the opportunities available for meaningful interventions in our state,” the CM said.Referring to a CSR workshop organised last year by the CSR Cell and CII, he said it resulted in two projects in the state—the New Age Technology Labs Project and the Darzo Ground Water Recharge Project.He said that the first CSR Conclave in Mizoram was being organised this year with the expectation of generating greater interest and collaboration.Around 25 representatives from major companies were expected to attend the conclave, though the final count remained uncertain due to weather-related disruption of air services.
