Over the decades, it has worked tirelessly to safeguard the rights, dignity and welfare of women and the vulnerable sections of society, while preserving the rich Mizo culture, traditions, and heritage and contributing to social welfare and community development, he said. The governor said for over five decades, the organisation has played a pivotal role in protecting women’s rights, combating violence and discrimination, and advocating crucial reforms in marriage, divorce and inheritance laws. “Through its sustained efforts in education, health awareness, legal aid and social service, MHIP has empowered countless women and families across the state,” he said.He said the organisation’s work was recognised with the Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2016. Guided by the principle of “Women’s welfare, justice and empowerment through social service,” MHIP continues to make valuable contributions to society, he added.“I am confident that MHIP will continue to collaborate closely with the govt, other NGOs and all sections of society in implementing various welfare schemes for women and children. As women are the cornerstone of every family — the fundamental institution where character is built, values are nurtured and the future of every nation takes shape — I am certain that MHIP members will play a vital role in the successful implementation of initiatives aimed at building a Viksit Mizoram, thereby contributing to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” the governor said.
