Aizawl: Mizoram has 8,28,906 electors — 3,99,025 male and 4,29,881 female — as per the draft electoral roll published on Saturday for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, while the state has 4,185 service voters (4,091 male and 94 female), Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Garima Gupta said.The draft electoral rolls were simultaneously released by District Election Officers across all districts in the state.Gupta said 8,75,068 enumeration forms were distributed during SIR 2026, and Booth Level Officers collected 8,28,906 forms, leaving 46,163 forms (5.28%) uncollected. Of the forms that could not be collected, 21,295 were due to the death of voters, 13,978 voters were found to have permanently shifted, 8,333 were untraceable and 2,248 were already enrolled. She said 309 voters refused to be enrolled this time due to religious beliefs and other reasons.“Mizoram became the first among the 16 states undertaking the third phase of the SIR, 2026, to achieve 100% digitisation of the collected Enumeration Forms, completing the process on June25, 2026,” Gupta said.Aizawl district, which has 12 assembly constituencies, has 2,72,366 voters, the highest among the state’s 11 districts, while Hnahthial district, with one assembly constituency, has 15,443 electors.Gupta said SIR 2026 is being conducted with July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, making those born on or before July 1, 2008, eligible for registration. “For the purpose of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026, a fresh electoral roll is being prepared. The electoral roll of 2005, being the last roll prepared through an Intensive Revision, is being used as the primary reference,” she said.With the publication of the draft roll on Saturday, the window for claims and objections opened on July 4, 2026, and will continue till Aug 4, 2026.

During SIR 2026, 52 new polling stations were created and one was abolished, taking the total number of polling stations in Mizoram to 1,352.“There have been no major issues or problems in the conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026. The dedication and commitment of all election officials, community leaders and electors are duly acknowledged and appreciated. It is expected that the revision process will be completed successfully and within the stipulated time frame,” Gupta added.
