Aizawl: CM Lalduhoma has welcomed the Centre’s decision to refer the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, to a joint parliamentary committee (JPC), saying it would allow wider consultation on concerns raised by stakeholders.Lalduhoma thanked Union home minister Amit Shah for moving the motion in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.“I welcome the motion in the Lok Sabha to refer the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC),” Lalduhoma said in a post on his social media handle.He said that the move would facilitate broader consultation and allow concerns and suggestions from different stakeholders to be examined before the proposed legislation is finalised. “I hope the JPC will ensure a transparent, inclusive and consultative examination of the Bill,” he added.Lalduhoma and leaders of two apex church bodies — the Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC), comprising 16 church denominations, and the Council of Churches in Mizoram (CCM), representing nine major Christian denominations — had recently met Shah and urged him to refer the Bill to a JPC.
