Guwahati: A 27-year-old teacher from the city, who had gone missing on Friday, was found in Meghalaya on Saturday. Cops said she left home due to mental distress owing to challenges in her personal and professional life.According to police, Bhabana Sharma was on her way to a private school to collect her pending salary on Friday. Bhabana had booked an app-based auto from her residence in the Tetelia area, on the outskirts of the city. She then cancelled the ride, booked another auto and left for the Adabari area in the city, the police added.DCP (West) Balin Deuri on Saturday said, “From Adabari, she booked an app-based bike and asked the rider, Saddam Hussain, to drop her near the Assam Engineering College (AEC) in Jalukbari. From that point, she walked till the Jalukbari rotary junction and entered an ATM booth, withdrawing Rs 7000 in cash. This became an important clue for us to track her.”Deuri added that after withdrawing the cash, she messaged her mother stating that she was in danger. “She then got up on a city bus. We found her last location near the Sukleshwar temple; however, after that, we lost her phone’s signal,” Deuri said.A search was initiated and police mapped out possible places she could have gone to, including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Bangalore, and Delhi, and informed the respective police officers.“She was found near a hotel in Shillong in a distressed condition, but no injuries were reported. She contacted her mother using a passerby’s phone, after which Meghalaya Police located her. Our team has left to bring her back,” Deuri added.Police said the circumstances leading to her disappearance are still under investigation.
