Gurgaon: A minor argument between two children while playing turned fatal after one of them allegedly attacked the other with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting an injury near his heart in Sector 56 Sunday evening.The injured child died during treatment at a hospital, following which police took the juvenile accused into custody and sent him to a juvenile home. The deceased’s father works as a scrap dealer in the area. The incident took place in Ashiana Flats around 7 pm, police said.According to a police officer, “The deceased child was playing with his sister when a friend also joined and an argument broke out between the two boys over some issue. During the scuffle, the friend allegedly attacked him with a sharp object, leaving him critically injured.”The child was rushed to a nearby hospital in Rajiv Colony, where he was brought with a knife injury. He died during treatment, police said. “The injury was near his heart,” the officer privy to the investigation said.On the complaint of the victim’s father, Yamin, a case was registered at Sector 58 police station. “A team from the police post subsequently took the juvenile accused into custody and sent him to a juvenile correction home,” a senior police officer said.Police said the two children were known to each other and used to play together often. The exact sequence of events and the weapon used are being investigated.The officer said the father had named the juvenile and his parents in the complaint and that further action would follow the postmortem and investigation.Calling the incident a matter of serious concern, the officer also urged parents to pay closer attention to their children’s behaviour and surroundings.The deceased child’s body was sent for postmortem, and police said further action would be taken according to the findings and the law.In another stabbing case in Faridabad, a 45-year-old man was stabbed multiple times following an argument at a food cart stall on Sunday in Sector 62 area. During the assault, the deceased’s nephew, who tried to intervene, was also beaten up.The deceased, Lakshman, a resident of Shahpur village, was taken to a hospital by his family but was declared dead on arrival. His nephew Mahesh is undergoing treatment at a private hospital for injuries sustained in the assault.Police said Lakshman and Mahesh had gone to a fast-food cart near Sector 62 Chowk around 10 pm to fast food. “An argument broke out between them and the cart operators, identified as Prashant, Naman and Rinku. The dispute escalated into a fight, following which the accused allegedly called some of their associates to the spot,” a police officer said.Police have arrested all the three accused, all residents of Uncha village.The group then allegedly assaulted the uncle and nephew. During the attack, Lakshman was stabbed several times and collapsed on the road in a pool of blood. When Mahesh tried to intervene, the attackers allegedly chased him with knives and assaulted him before fleeing.Police said that they are checking the CCTV footage from the area where the two men were assaulted. “Crime Branch and forensic teams inspected the spot and collected evidence. Police are scanning footage from nearby cameras to identify and trace the attackers. The exact reason behind the assault will also be examined once the injured person is stable,” the officer added.
