Agartala: A delegation from the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) will visit Tripura next week to hold talks on fast-tracking the 2024 Tripartite Agreement with TIPRA Motha, signed before the last general elections, officials said on Sunday.The move follows a two-year stalemate over implementation of the pact among TIPRA Motha, MHA and Tripura govt. Progress was made at a Sept 4 meeting in Delhi chaired by Union home minister Amit Shah, attended by CM Manik Saha and TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma. The parties committed to begin implementing the agreement within two months.In the wake of the meeting, BJP, TIPRA Motha and IPFT decided to jointly contest the Sept 28 Village Council elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council against CPM and Congress.Pradyot said Shah assured action on key issues, including land rights for ADC. The delegation is expected to meet the state govt, TIPRA Motha and other stakeholders to review progress, identify pending items and finalise an execution plan.
