Varanasi: Bhajans of the seer were sung by Union minister of law and justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, while MoS for finance and UP BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary appealed to all to spread the ideals of Sant Ravidas along with the message of development by the party’s “double-engine” govt at the Guru Purnima event in Seer Gowardhanpur, the birthplace of Sant Ravidas on Wednesday.The function began with the honouring of Shri Guru Ravidas Janamsthal Charitable Trust’s chairperson and head of All India Ravidassiya Dharm Sant Niranjan Das by chief minister Yogi Adityanath.Meghwal said Sant Ravidas’s life and message of equality and brotherhood were an inspiration for the society. He linked the views expressed by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in the Constituent Assembly with Ravidas’s ideals and sang the bhajan ‘Prabhuji, tum chandan ham paani.”Welcoming participants of the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan, Chaudhary expressed pride in being a BJP worker and said conveying govt’s achievements along with Sant Ravidas’s thoughts to public and connecting the last person in society was the goal of all workers.Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya described Sant Ravidas’s birthplace as sacred and thanked people for making the programme historic. He said Prime Minister Modi’s governance symbolises Ravidas’s ideas of equality and harmony and accused the opposition of insulting saints.Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak referred to Sant Ravidas’s life and works and recited his couplets. He said this massive event would spread a message of harmony in the country. Sant Ravidas worked to unite society 650 years ago, and those ideals remain relevant even today, he added.Rajya Sabha member Tarun Chugh said through the Modi’s efforts, two trains are being run from Punjab to Sant Ravidas’s holy city. He highlighted naming of Ayodhya and Adampur airports, benefit of the Prime Minister’s food scheme to 80 crore people and the message of ensuring that no poor slept hungry.
