Meghalaya film org condemns ‘attack’ on award-winning filmmaker Dominic

Shillong: The alleged physical attack on national award-winning filmmaker and Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) faculty member Dominic M Sangma near the institute’s Itanagar campus in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday has been condemned in his home state Meghalaya.Dominic is known for his research on Garo cinema and filmmaking in the northeast.The Society of A’chik Film & Entertainment (SAFE) expressed anguish over the incident and sought a thorough probe by the Arunachal Pradesh authorities and prosecution of the perpetrators.The organisation also sought an assurance from the Arunachal Pradesh govt on ensuring the safety and dignity of artists and academics, including Dominic, associated with the FTII.SAFE appealed to the Union ministries of culture and education, the FTII administration and human rights organisations to intervene and ensure Dominic’s safety.
