Media urged to back 100-week anti-drug campaign

Jaipur: The media has been urged to support the 100-week ‘Drug-Free Youth for Developed India Pledge Campaign’ and take its message across Rajasthan. The call was made at a media workshop organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Jaipur, Wednesday.NCB zonal director Abhishek Narayan Sinha said drug abuse was a social problem requiring coordinated action. He said the Centre’s Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026-2029) aims to make India drug-free by 2029 through intelligence-led operations, technology and inter-agency coordination.Rajasthan recorded 6,387 narcotics cases in 2025 and around 5,000 cases till July this year, Sinha said.PIB Jaipur Director Anubhav Bairwa urged media organisations to highlight anti-drug initiatives, rehabilitation stories, expert advice and positive achievements by young people.Dr Renu Khandelwal of CGHS said addiction should be treated as a complex illness requiring medical, psychological and family support.D K Sothi of the Central Bureau of Narcotics said ‘Operation Yuva Raksha’ was using awareness rallies and street plays near educational institutions to discourage drug use.
