New Delhi: Around 4,400 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS/DBC) employees of Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s health department will receive the benefit of equal pay, with their salaries set to increase by up to approximately Rs 10,000 per month, Mayor Pravesh Wahi announced Friday.The decision, described by the mayor as an Independence Day gift to the employees, received final approval after the completion of administrative, financial and legal formalities. The revised salary will be paid from the forthcoming month, according to MCD.Wahi said the move had been pending for a long time and was aimed at ensuring that employees receive pay commensurate with their duties and responsibilities. The decision was taken in coordination with standing committee chairperson Satya Sharma and MCD commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar.He added that he had announced the measure earlier in his capacity as Leader of the House during the Budget Speech. “After overcoming several hurdles and completing all the necessary formalities, final approval has been granted for this decision,” Wahi said, describing it as a matter of ensuring the “dignity and rights” of MCD employees.The mayor said the move would boost the morale of employees who provide essential health-related services and would also benefit their families.
