Married woman accuses jewellery trader of repeated rape, threats

Rajkot: A 34-year-old married woman lodged a complaint with Aji Dam police, alleging that a local imitation jewellery trader repeatedly raped her and blackmailed her, after promising to give her employment. Police registered an offence against the accused.According to the FIR, the woman was seeking work in the imitation jewellery sector to support her family when she came into contact with the accused, who frequented her neighbourhood for business. She alleged that in Aug last year, he called her to his house on the pretext of urgent work. There he allegedly raped her and took objectionable photographs without her consent.The complainant stated that the accused then used the photographs to blackmail her and subjected her to continual sexual exploitation. She further alleged that he forced her to participate in video calls while bathing and recorded the footage, which was then used to intimidate and blackmail her.The woman alleged that the accused recently began pressuring her to divorce her husband and threatened to kill her son if she failed to comply with his demands. Unable to endure the alleged intimidation and exploitation any longer, she approached police and filed a complaint.Police began an investigation after registering an FIR against the accused under Sections 64(2)(m) (rape by a person in a position of trust or authority) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
