Gorakhpur: Defying financial constraints and growing family responsibilities, 23-year-old Vishal Tiwari of Mirzapur Pachpedwa Colony in Gorakhnath area cleared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), scoring 605 out of 720 marks in his fourth attempt. The son of an autorickshaw driver, Vishal’s journey was marked by perseverance, setbacks and determination. After completing Class XII with biology from Saraswati Vidya Mandir in 2022, he began preparing for NEET with the dream of becoming a doctor. However, limited financial resources forced him to study on his own for the first two years without coaching. Despite repeated efforts, he could not secure the required score.During this period, his family arranged his marriage to Kalpana Pandey of Siddharthnagar. The couple later had a son, adding to his responsibilities. Yet, Vishal remained committed to his goal.Recognising his dedication, his father, Santosh Tiwari, borrowed money in 2024 to enrol him in a coaching institute. To support his personal expenses, Vishal started giving private tuition while continuing his studies. His daily routine involved attending coaching classes during the day, taking tuition sessions in the evening and studying at a library late into the night.Vishal credited his success to the unwavering support of his parents and wife, who managed household responsibilities and cared for their child while he focused on his preparation.“The first thing I want to do after becoming a doctor is buy a car for my father,” he said, recalling the emotional moment he shared his NEET result with his family.
