Mari Selvaraj is ready to begin the next chapter of his filmmaking journey with ‘Manjanathi.’ The upcoming Tamil film has officially gone on floors, with the makers announcing the start of shooting on September 7. The project comes after ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’ with Dhruv Vikram and marks Mari Selvaraj’s sixth feature film. It also brings together a promising cast led by Kathir, Priyanka Mohan and Kayadu Lohar, while veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja is attached to the film’s music.
‘Manjanathi’ shooting begins with pooja
The shooting of ‘Manjanathi’ began with a traditional pooja ceremony on Monday. The announcement has added fresh attention to the film, which brings Mari Selvaraj back with Kathir several years after their debut collaboration. Kathir had headlined the director’s acclaimed first film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ in 2018. Their reunion is now one of the key talking points around ‘Manjanathi.’ Poornima Ravi, Vidhu, and ‘Kaaka Muttai’ fame J Vignesh have also joined the cast, adding more depth to the ensemble.
Ilaiyaraaja joins Mari Selvaraj for the first time
One of the biggest highlights of ‘Manjanathi’ is the coming together of Mari Selvaraj and Ilaiyaraaja. The film marks the director’s first collaboration with the veteran music composer. Ilaiyaraaja’s presence is expected to add another musical dimension to Mari Selvaraj’s storytelling. The filmmaker is also said to be developing a story with a connection to his earlier film ‘Vaazhai.’ With the cast and crew now assembled, the project is expected to move ahead with a focused shooting schedule. The film’s technical team includes cinematographer Ezhil Arasu K, editor Selva RK, art director Ramu Thangaraj, and stunt choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan.
