Mapusa Jadhav family deaths: Wife too passes away at GMC

Mapusa: Suvarna Jadhav, 30, died on Sunday while undergoing treatment at GMC, Bambolim, in connection with the Jadhav family suicide case at Karaswada, Mapusa. Her death followed that of her husband, Ajay, 38, and their seven-year-old son, Atharva, who were found dead in their rented apartment in Mapusa.Autopsy reports for Ajay and Atharva did not establish a definitive cause of death. Police said the postmortem examination conducted at GMC were inconclusive, and viscera samples have been preserved and sent for advanced toxicological analysis to identify the chemical substance allegedly consumed. Forensic doctors reported noticeable discoloration of the intestines during internal examination, indicating possible poisoning.Suvarna, who had been in critical condition in the GMC intensive care unit with persistent vomiting, was declared unfit to give a police statement.The family, originally from Sonurli-Sawantwadi in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district, had been living in a rented room at Indiranagar, Karaswada, for about a year.The incident was discovered on Saturday after relatives, unable to contact the family by phone, found them unconscious in their room. After completing legal formalities, police handed over the bodies of Ajay and Atharva to relatives on Sunday afternoon.With no major medical history or clear signs of immediate financial distress found in preliminary inquiries, Mapusa police are investigating possible financial factors or personal stressors.
