Panchkula: Devotees may soon find their journey to the Mata Mansa Devi Temple smoother and more comfortable, with escalators, improved access routes and upgraded visitor amenities set to become part of the iconic temple complex. The Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has drawn up a redevelopment plan worth around Rs 6.5 crore to modernise key facilities and enhance the overall pilgrim experience.The project proposes the construction of a new entry hall and main gate, along with improvements around Shakti Chowk and the temple approach road. New visitor amenities, including a water ATM, staircases, a corridor leading to the temple, an upasana sthal and a dome structure, will also be developed as part of the plan.A key feature of the project is the proposed installation of escalators, complemented by a staircase pathway, to make access to the shrine easier for devotees.“Escalators will greatly benefit visitors, particularly senior citizens and persons with disabilities, who often face difficulty climbing a large number of steps. The escalators will run from the parking area up to the darbar, alongside the existing stairway,” an HSVP official told TOI.The official added that beautification works at Shakti Chowk will also be taken up under the project. “A portion of the chowk has already been developed and the remaining work will be completed soon. The area will be enhanced with decorative lighting and landscaping to improve its appearance,” he said.The redevelopment aims to give the temple complex a more organised, aesthetically appealing and visitor-friendly look while improving movement across different parts of the campus. Retaining and protective works have also been incorporated into the plan. Rather than executing multiple standalone projects, HSVP has bundled all proposed facilities into a single redevelopment package.The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen infrastructure at one of the region’s most prominent religious destinations, which draws thousands of devotees throughout the year. The proposed upgrades are expected to ease movement, improve accessibility and enhance the overall experience for visitors.HSVP has set a nine-month completion target from the date of commencement of work. The project, estimated at Rs 6.45 crore, has already been put out to tender, with bids invited until August 26. Following the tendering process, the work will be awarded to a selected agency.
