Imphal: Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Thursday directed security forces to arrest those responsible for the killing of four Naga civilians in Kangpokpi district.Khemchand chaired a high-level security meeting at the CM’s secretariat in Imphal following his August 12 ultimatum to people possessing illegal weapons to surrender within 15 days.“The meeting discussed in detail today’s unfortunate incident along the IT Road in Kangpokpi district, in which four innocent civilians were gunned down mercilessly. The govt condemned the incident in the strongest terms. The CM instructed the security officials to nab and initiate action against the perpetrators of the crime,” the CMO said in a statement.The meeting decided to take stringent action against anyone, irrespective of community, found possessing illegal arms or weapons .It also resolved that cadres of outfits under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement or engaged in peace talks with the govt will face serious action if found carrying weapons outside their designated camps.The meeting was attended by home minister Govindas Konthoujam, chief secretary Dr Puneet Kumar Goel, security adviser Kuldiep Singh, DGP Mukesh Singh, joint secretary (northeast) in the ministry of home affairs, ADGP (Intelligence/Law and Order), the state home commissioner and senior officials of the CRPF, Assam Rifles, Army, BSF and SSB.
